FIRST || INSPIRATION MONDAY

Hello blog fam!

Its been a while. I’ve honestly missed this–blogging, and connecting with you guys. I hope you’ve been doing great.

So I know it’s Tuesday already here but I started working on this post on Monday so can we just assume it’s Monday again. (it should be Monday somewhere in the world. Alaska?)

The idea of this blog post came a couple of days ago. I was feeling swamped about a lot of stuff. I had deadlines pilling up, commitments I had to fulfill and I kinda felt overwhelmed. The default action for most of us is to worry.
Worry

Verb—

–To be troubled

–Agitated

–Distressed

This summer, I was prepping for an exam. I was so nervous about the exam so I read like crazy. It got so bad that even when I sleep, I would dream about me reading! The day before the exam, I couldn’t sleep. My entire system was constantly stressing about this dreaded exam. Then morning came and I started feeling kind of nauseous and hungry and the same time. I was sooo scared that I wasn’t going to do well.

But when I think about it now, I laugh over it. The mystery of why I was so worried over an exam that I couldn’t even eat! And if you know me well, you’d know that amongst the many things I love, food is among the top 3.

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow.

Matthew 6:34a MSG

I really love this verse because it reminds me that I have a loving heavenly father that doesn’t want me to be so stressed and worked up all all the time. He wants me just to give him my Entire Attention. I know what you might be thinking. How can I give someone my entire attention. The King James’ version puts it as “seeking first the kingdom of God”.

God knows that we are busy. But he doesn’t want us to be so busy that we forget Him. He wants to be top priority. When we pay attention to the Word and seek God first, He will give us all other things. Other things like the things that we so desperately need. The things that keep us busy, that instead take top priority in our lives.

God wants to be number 1. No he wants to be number 1,2, and 3. He wants to be the first thing we think about in the morning and the last at night. He wants to be our everything. Cause truth is, He is.

Summarily the Bible puts it that God holds our lives in his hands. And our failure to realise that He in fact is our sustenance, is to our disadvantage. How would you feel if your child doesn’t even pay attention to you. Doesn’t call. Doesn’t text. Doesn’t even want to have lunch or coffee with you, when you are the one that pays every single bill for them. Now that would suck. And truth is most of us (me inclusive) make God feel so left out. We are so preoccupied with the ‘every other things’ in life that we forget the real thing. The real reason for our existence without whom we are nothing.

Don’t get me wrong here. It’s great to have goals, ambitions, rad dreams and all, but don’t get soo preoccupied with getting them that you forget the real thing.

Truth is, life and all its treasures and glory and wealth will pass away. High school will come and go. College will come and go. That dream job will come and go. One day all these things will pass. All the things we’re presently fussing about. And when that day comes what are we going to do.

You see, one day, we will stand before God to give account of how we lived our lives. And when we do, we aren’t going to bring our diplomas and degrees and bank account statements with us. Even though all these things are great, God doesn’t want them to rule us. He put these things in our lives for us and not us for them.

Friends and members of the blogverse, this week I urge you to relax. Take a chill pill. The God kind of chill pill. Reset your focus and Seek God first

And remember that you ain’t got nothing to be worried about. Cause girrrrrl, He’s got you!!

Relax, don’t be so preoccupied with getting , so you can respond to God’s giving . People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
